Project developed for KCDM (Slovenia)

The use of data diving and data analysis is becoming a powerful tool for guiding strategic decisions in design management. An extensive data collection and analysis was conducted for the Kompetence Center for Design Management (KCDM) in Slovenia. Data collected from over 100 manufacturing and service companies was compiled and reviewed to identify obstacles to managing design and assessing the performance of design investments.
Each time a company completed the BDI questionnaire they received a Design Diagnostic of how their design management practices suit their objectives and what should be improved. The addition of an appropriate benchmark in the Design Diagnostic creates a visual guide for managers to assess their position and what to address.

With the data collected every two years it is possible to assess the impact of the KCDM programme on its companies and help the KCDM team to plan future courses of action.
Business Design Intelligence analyses over 300 metrics in design practices, management decisions, organisational structure and design performance. This can be done on an individual company basis or with groups of companies. Combined with the creation of suitable benchmarks from the extensive BDI database it is possible to illustrate to managers what they need to do to achieve their objectives and why, BDI can link practice with performance.
